The trek takes you on an amazing journey to see the Gokyo lakes and Gokyo Ri, these water bodies are situated at a very high altitude and they are the most amazing view-points for exceptional views of Everest and other Himalayan ranges. Our 13-day trip to the Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek is an option to standard treks that are more popular in the Everest region. The turquoise Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri are a spiritual experience. Day 1 :Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)
Our representative will be waiting for you at the Tribhuwan International Airport, once you land you will be accompanied to your assigned hotel. Take some rest or you can visit us at our office for some details about the trek. In the evening, you can stroll around Thamel, the main tourist hub in Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2 : Kathmandu - Lukla (2,800m) - Phakding (2,652m): 3 - 4 hrs
You will have to take an early morning flight to Lukla, as the weather is clearer in the morning. The scenic flight will fly you above the Himalayan ranges. The Tenzing/Hillary airport is Lukla will fascinate you as it is an airstrip that is actually hanging off the side of a mountain. At Lukla, you can meet your team leaders and the rest of the staff, the trek to Phakding starts right away. Overnight in Phakding.
Day 3 : Phakding - Namche Bazaar (3,440m): 5 - 6 hrs
Have some breakfast, the trek trail follows alongside the Dudh Koshi River. After crossing several suspension bridges, villages and monasteries, you reach Benkar village a point from where you can enjoy a good view of Mt. Thamserku. There will be a short check of the permits at Monjo, as you near the Sagarmatha National Park. Next stop is Jorsale, which is the last village before reaching Namche Bazaar. You will also cross the Hillary Suspension Bridge and as you near Namche, you can see the glorious views of Kwangde Peak, Kusum peak, Kangaru peak, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and many other mountains . Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 4 : Acclimatization Day
Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) can affect anyone, so it is very necessary to take a day off in Namche Bazaar. You will not be bored here, as there’s lot to do like a short hike to the Khumjung villages. There’s also a Tourist Visitor Center, where one can see an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders and the popular Sherpa mountain culture. The Khumjung Monastery is worth a visit a you can also see the Yeti’s scalp there. The airstrip above Syangboche offers incredible views of Kongde, Thamserku and Khumbila mountain ranges. Day 5 : NamcheBazzar - Phorse Village (3,810m): 5 - 6 hrs
The trail from Namche Bazaar is all ups and downs. Here you can spot some Himalayan wildlife like pheasants, mountain goats, deer etc. The descent towards Kyanjuma is slow and gradual, all along the way you get peeks of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawoche and Khumbila mountains. The trail descends towards Dudhkoshi River, after some uphill climb under the shade of the rhododendron forests you will reach Phorse Village. The surrounding views of the mighty Himalayan range keeps you company. Overnight in Phorse Village.
Day 6 : Phorse - Machhermo (4,470m): 5 - 6 hrs
After crossing through the bridge over the Dudh Koshi River the trail passes through forests, waterfalls and bridges towards Dole Village. The trail gradually leads uphill through a scenic rim with views of Cho Oyu and Thamserku mountains. After you cross Luza village you descend and walk right above the Dudh Koshi River. Continue your trek passing small villages woody trails before reaching the village of Machhermo. Overnight in Machhermo.
Day 7 : Machhermo - Gokyo (4,720m): 4 - 5 hrs
The trail that begins from Machhermo is very scenic, as you trek the ridge the valley widens as the trail reaches Phangga Village. The trail then descends towards the river bank before sharply climbing up to the challenging moraine of the Ngozamba Glacier. From here you walk along Longpongo, Raboche Tsho and Dudh Pokhari lakes before reaching Gokyo, the lake which has many legendary tales being told. Take some time to explore the Dudh Pokhari area before settling down for the night. Overnight in Gokyo.
Day 8 : Gokyo - GokyoRi (5,357m) – 4th & 5th lakes: 5 - 6 hrs
Spending another day in Gokyo will help you acclimatize more to the high altitude and climb up to Gokyo Ri. The view of the Himalayas and the serene Gokyo lakes from the top is simply amazing. It now time to hike towards the fourth and the fifth Gokyo lakes. The Fourth Lake lies about 3kms north from Gokyo. After that you can continue a little further to reach the 5th lake. The extraordinary views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu, will leave you speechless . This view point is called theScoundrel's Viewpoint. Also from the Northern side of the 5th lake you can also see the Cho-Oyu base camp and the biggest glacier the world the Ngazumpa Glacier. You will have to trek back to Gokyo for the night. Overnight in Gokyo.
Day 9 : Gokyo to Dole: 3 - 4 hrs
From Gokya the trail descends along the Dudh Koshi River and passes the first Gokyo lakes. The views of Cholatse and Taboche peaks along the way are enjoyable, you can take many pictures. The trail then suddenly descends before climbing a small hill. The amazing views of Thamserku, Cho Oyu, and Kangtega mountains accompanies you all along the way. There are many villages that passes by like the Machhermo, Luza and Lhafarma villages and finally you will reach Dole. Overnight in Dole.
Day 10 : Dole - Namche: 4 - 5 hrs
Today is the day to head back to Namche, the trail allows you to spot a lot of mountain wildlife, waterfalls and Rhododendron forests. Also the views of Taboche, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kangtega mountains will always be there by your side. After you reach an intersection where the trail from Sanasa meets the current trail that you are walking on, you can see the capturing views of the Himalayan ranges. After the Namche army camp hill, you can see Lhotse and the tip of Mount Everest and Tengboche, but this would be for the last time. About some distance from here you will reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Day 11 : Namche Bazaar - Lukla: 6 - 8 hrs
Walk down the exciting rocky trail and cross several suspension bridges before reaching more flatter trails. You have reached the lower elevation and the air is warmer you near Lukla. Your stint in the mountain official ends when you reach Lukla. Take some time out in Lukla and relax, you will love it here. Overnight in Lukla.
Day 12 : Fly Back from Lukla to Kathmandu
The early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu takes around 40 mins. Our trip leader will drop you off at the hotel, you can now relax and take a glimpse of Kathmandu city. Thamel is a popular Tourist hub in Kathmandu you can do some shopping or visit popular tourist attractions nearby. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 13 : Departure from Nepal
Your wonderful journey comes to a halt, but not an end you can always come back for more adventure. Our representative will drop you off at the airport approximately 3 hours before you International flight. We will see you again someday.
